Proving the Full Loss After Fraud or Theft
We work with business owners, executives, boards, and the attorneys who represent them, from the moment a theft is discovered through claim resolution. Our forensic finance analysis answers the two questions your claim depends on: what actually happened, and exactly how much was lost. Whether you're filing an insurance claim, pursuing the person responsible, or simply need to know what was taken, the analysis starts the same way.

Expert Witness
Managing Partner, Quantum Bravo
Mr. Sobczak serves as a financial expert witness in high-stakes and complex disputes. He is both a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) and a Master Analyst in Financial Forensics (MAFF), credentials awarded by NACVA and accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). The CVA is also accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB). Together, these credentials qualify him to determine what a business, asset, or economic loss is worth, and to trace, reconstruct, and test the financial records behind it.
As Managing Partner of Quantum Bravo, Mr. Sobczak serves as lead testifying expert on complex commercial damages and financial forensics matters. His practice spans IP litigation (patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret), breach of contract, construction defect, business tort, and marital disputes. He has deep experience in reasonable royalty, lost profits, and apportionment analyses, in reconstructing disparate financial records, and in supporting testifying experts through Daubert challenges in federal court. He also provides marital business valuation, income determination, tracing of dissipated or undisclosed assets, and forensic analysis in fraud matters, including the quantification of fraud and theft losses for insurance claims.
Previously, Mr. Sobczak was the lead analyst on a patent infringement matter, from engagement through trial, that resulted in a $17 million jury award, one of more than 50 engagements in his career. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Brigham Young University's Marriott School of Business.
Meet the Team →Finding what was taken.
Proving what was lost.
Discovering that your business has been defrauded or stolen from is only the beginning. Most crime and employee dishonesty policies require a sworn proof of loss within a set period after discovery. The insurer will then review every figure you submit, often through its own forensic financial professionals.
Embezzlement is designed not to be found. It often runs for years, spans multiple accounts, and hides inside ordinary-looking transactions. Bank records may be incomplete, and the person who kept the books may be the person who took the money. A loss estimate built on assumptions rather than documented transactions can be reduced or denied.
That's where a qualified financial expert becomes essential. A forensic loss quantification turns your suspicion and your records into a documented, defensible number that your insurer, and if necessary a court, can rely on. Without it, even a real and substantial loss may go partly or entirely unrecovered.
At Quantum Bravo, we bring the same rigor to loss quantification that we bring to complex commercial litigation: tested methodology, careful documentation, and analysis built to hold up under scrutiny.
"The same analytical rigor we bring to every engagement — a defensible, fact-based damages opinion that holds up under cross-examination, Daubert challenge, and judicial scrutiny."

Initial Consultation
We offer a complimentary 20-minute consultation to review what you've discovered, the records available, and your insurance coverage. Within 1–2 business days, we follow up with a written budget estimate. This is a preliminary, non-binding range based on the facts discussed — not an expert opinion or report. Limited-scope reports are billed at a flat fee; full reports are billed hourly against the retainer, varying with record volume, insurer follow-up, or scope changes.
Retainer & Engagement
If you move forward, Quantum Bravo is retained to prepare your loss quantification report.
- Limited-scope loss reports (a short-form report quantifying a single scheme over a defined period, such as one account or one type of improper transaction) are billed as a flat fee based on the budget estimate provided at engagement, typically ranging from $2,500 to $7,500 depending on the length of the scheme and the volume of records.
- Full loss quantification reports are billed hourly against an evergreen retainer and typically range from $7,500 to $35,000, depending on the number of accounts, the length of the scheme, and the condition of the records. Matters with multiple individuals, many years of activity, or missing records run higher.
- Responding to your insurer's follow-up requests is billed separately at standard hourly rates.
- If your claim proceeds to litigation, deposition and trial testimony are billed separately at standard hourly rates.
Retainers apply toward total fees and are not billed separately.
Financial Analysis
We trace and document each improper transaction, reconstruct the scheme across the relevant period, and calculate the total loss net of recoveries. Our analysis is organized to align with how insurers evaluate claims, and it's designed to withstand the insurer's review.
Report & Claim Support
We deliver a loss quantification report with supporting schedules and exhibits for submission with your proof of loss. As your insurer reviews the claim, we help answer its questions. If the claim is disputed, our analysis can serve as the foundation for expert testimony.
